Buglist item 16 - Bad bars when starting
QCharts after hours or on weekends.
1. This is an animated gif from Larry, clearly demonstrating the after
hours bad bar issue as he sees it. The workspace that you see in this
animated gif below is located
HERE. Download and run it yourself to duplicate the after hours bad bar
issue.
Larry's additional commentary...
This bad bar item is about starting QCharts after hours or on the weekend. I
don't see this bad bar issue if running 1459 during market hours.
Interesting that the NASDAQ syms tend to spike to 0, and the other syms
give spikes to values that are significantly lower than are real, but not to
0.
The bad bars don't seem to manifest if one's workspace has ONLY Daily charts
(and no Weekly or Monthly) and/or RTH intraday charts (i.e. no All Sessions
charts). The bad bar after hours issue is dependent on the mix of chart
types in the workspace. The animated .GIF has both Daily plus Weekly plus
All Sessions. Eliminating the All Sessions and Weekly charts, leaving just
the 10min RTH and Daily, will give no spikes for the most part.
2. Carol Kelly's image captured below and her comments here:
Also note that for some -
not all - of the symbols that close at zero on 12/31/08 - some will
initially paint what might be the correct candle (ie, a small white candle),
but very quickly, perhaps a 1-second showing - and then the candle goes to
zero.

3. Another variant. A spike significantly lower, but not all the way to
zero.
Daily chart spikes down to $18.38 - 60min chart shows correct at $22.97.
This snapshot was taken after the market close, on Sunday, 22/22/2009 at
