Under Revision as of Wed
7-15-09 - not complete
Suggestions and input are welcomed from everyone.
1- Daily, Weekly, Monthly
and Yearly Charts are Updating with ExtHours Trades
The OHLC value of the current bar is being updated with incoming streaming data
during the pre- and post-market sessions. Click for example.
2- High / Low Fields are Highlighting Unnecessarily -
Fixed in 1475
The High and Low fields in a Quote Window are highlighting even though that
symbol is not making a new high or new low.
2a- Incorrect fields
highlighting in quote sheet - Fixed
The fields Symbol, Yest, Open, are
highlighting in yellow, even though the values in these fields do not change,
and therefore the fields should not highlight.
3- Intraday Spike on Futures Charts - Fixed in 1550
Randomly, a spike may show on intraday futures charts. Click for
examples. This most commonly occurs
on pit-traded contracts, but can occasionally occur on electronic contracts.
Restarting QCharts clears this bug. This occurs on 6.0.2 and earlier versions as
well as in 6.0.3 and is being worked on from the server development side. Also,
seeing this on the Daily Futures, for example the ES and NQ contracts. Changing
off of these tickers and then coming back to them seems to clear the spikes.
4- Daily, Weekly Charts are Shifted from Right Margin -
Fixed in 1550
Charts that are based on daily intervals are being shifted to the right. This
leaves 1 or more spaces between the most current bar and the right-hand margin.
The amount of space is determined by the bar compression.
It appears that the studies are one bar short of being complete, as in the
candles will continue for one bar beyond the study lines.
5- Excessive CPU Usage - click here
for latest performance comparison dated 2/20/09 QCharts 6.0.3.1459 vs eSignal
10.3
QCharts will use excessive amounts of CPU cycles when compared against QCharts
5.1 and eSignal. Primarily this is caused by two things, processing of incoming
streaming data packets and chart loading. Update: This is
improved in 6.0.3 in many cases, but more work is needed to completely solve
this, so we are keeping this open.
6- Last/ExtHours Field
We need to be able to pull the Last/ExtHours in the pre or post market hours and
have it automatically updated with the latest FormT trade without having to wait
for an update. Currently this field is equal to the last unless it has already
received an ExtHours trade.
7- Handling Futures Volume on Snapshot Requests
Snapshot volume on futures in QCharts 6.0.2 is not being handled in a way that
will match QCharts 5.1's method. This partly has to do with the way eSignal
handles future’s volume, however we should be able to match 5.1’s method.
8- Go To Date/Time Not Working in Time & Sales -
T&S is being re-worked for v6.1
In Time & Sales the Go To Date/Time function is not working correctly. When a
specific date or time is set beyond the history it has already cached, the
window goes to the end of cache instead of requesting more data.
9- Interval Linking Problems; Charts Change Intervals Unexpectedly -
This seems improved in 6.0.3.1613 - but still happens on
occasion
Occasionally when loading a workspace or clicking on a symbol from a Quote
Sheet, charts that have an interval linking color set to red or grey will change
to a different interval. For example, a workspace with a W, D, 233, 55 min chart
may open up and they will all be Daily charts, and the INTV box was red and
still is red.
10- Vista Compatibility
Microsoft Vista does not allow QCharts 5.1 or 6.0 to update locally stored files
such as CorpActs.inf and MktHours.inf due to its UAC features. A workaround
exists by using Admin & XP-compatibility modes, however we need to become more
compliant with this growing OS. Also, when making the
change to XP compatibility mode and Administrator priveleges, Vista moves the
user's workspace files to the Vista Virtual Store, thus giving the appearance of
losing the workspaces to the user (who doesn't know about the Virtual Store).
This move should not occur.
11- Save Password Toggle - Fixed in 1536
On the login screen, there is no way to toggle whether or not the user wishes
the application to save the password or not. We need to create one.
12- Pivot Points Only Display After First Bar is Complete
The new data for the Pivot Point study is only displayed after the first bar has
been completed for the new day. Ideally, these Pivot Point values should be
displayed at the prior midnight (exchange time) or at least upon the first tick
of new day.
13- Future Options' Daily Charts Missing - ?
Daily charts on Future Options do not seem to be working although the data
appears in eSignal.
14- Symbol Bleeding in Quote Sheets
Occasionally upon the loading of Quote Sheet, Workspace or Hot List, symbols in
the Quote Sheet may display the values for another symbol in the Quote Sheet or
symbols may be doubled up in the Quote Sheet. Another example is Canadian
symbols sometimes have $ inserted within the symbol when loaded.
15- Email alerts functionality needs
to be redone so that it works.
Right now, you input all of the info (SMTP server, addresses, etc) into the
dialog box and because of the way it is set up to communicate with your ISPs
mailserver, it (the ISPs mailserver) thinks it's spam or a relay attempt, so it
doesn't work at all. This does actually work on some ISPs, but it should be set
so that it is compliant with industry standard practices across the board.
16- Bad bars when starting QCharts after
hours or on weekends. See example of this here. -
Fixed in 1536
17- Change the nomenclature in Add/Remove Programs
- Fixed in 1536 - add the build number. Instead
of just "QCharts 6.0.3" have "QCharts 6.0.3.1459" or whatever the build is.
Also, this comment from another user: "And
I will reiterate my request for this to be added to the Add/Remove Programs
information so that I know which version I'm trying to remove when I no longer
need it..."
18- Too many decimal
points - Fixed in 6.1.0.1719 - There are way too many decimal points in price indicators and study
indicators on the RH side of the chart. Two places past the decimal is
sufficient. There is no need to know that a moving average is 35.51659 - just
35.52 is fine. The same can be said for the decimals on the StochRSI study and
many others, if not all. Having 5 or 6 places past the decimal takes up valuable
screen real estate and should be throttled back to two places past the decimal.
18a- Too many decimal points on certain fields of the Snapshot bar and the
Data Window - for example, the P/E ratio, when used in the snapshot bar
yields 6 or 7 decimals. Click here for examples. Two
decimals should be enough. The Data Window also is just picking up the excess
decimals from the studies, as previously reported in item 18 and sometimes these
decimals flicker between different levels of places past the decimal.
19- AutoWave indicator
does not paint correctly - this does not function the same as it did in
version 5.
20- Moving averages -
Do not always agree when comparing what one user is getting to what another user
is getting on their charts. This is for the same stock, and the same MA.
21- Incorrect "Net"
calculation for $INDU - Click here for example. - (Am
currently researching actual cause of this error).
22- Option Pricing needs
improvement - this is a known issue and is a datafeed problem, not a QCharts
software problem. It is being worked on in the data feed.
23- The "Multi-Minute Bar"
setting - Fixed in 1550 (as far as DST bug) - this is confusing to users and causes different results in the
actual charts. The user should not have to choose between "fast" or "accurate,
but slower" charts. This should not be an issue - charts should be fast and
accurate without even having need of setting anything in preferences.
24- Float Turnover Channel
- (research calculation method used in v6 - is it correct?). Doesn't appear to
be the same as v5, especially on low volume stocks. Paints different FTC
pictures.
25- Incorrect Dividend showing in Quote Sheets - this is not calculated
correctly - data manager issue?
26- Problems after
Holidays and DST switch - In the past there have been problems with charts
painting incorrectly after a holiday or a switch on or off of daylight savings
time. This should be corrected either in the software or on the data server side
if need be so that these market interruptions are a non-event from a chart
standpoint.
27- Level II data does not
show in 6.0.3.1459
- Fixed in 1536 - No Market Depth data shows, even though the user is
subscribed to it.
