
There is a major change coming in the way Options tickers are displayed. You can find links all over the web to the history, and the OPRA format and everything. That's not the point of my article here. If you do want to go read more about this, here's a Google search to get you started. It's important to note that different brokerages will have different tickers for this.
Now, back to the business at hand. You're a QCharts user, you use options - how do you decipher the new codes coming Feb 1?

Here are the examples from the eSignal KB:
You can see the "D" in the
MSFT symbol means "April Call" (look at the table above). Obviously, the "10"
means "2010" and the 25.00 is the strike price. ...and that the "S" in the IBM symbol means "July Put". Obviously, the "10" means "2010" and the 100.00 is the strike price.

The biggest thing that has been a mystery to the user's I've spoken with has been the letter in the new tickers.
The chart above should clarify that. At least I hope it does.
