Symbol issues in v6.x

QCharts 6.x uses a different database to pull its information from. Thus, some of the symbols will change.

Common Indexes:
DOW            INDEX:$INDU
NASDAQ      INDEX:$COMPQ
S&P 100       INDEX:$OEX
S&P 500       INDEX:$INX (source CME)
S&P 500       INDEX:$SPX (source CBOT)
Retail           INDEX:$RLX
OK....so the overall pattern with most of the indexes is to just add a $ sign and to drop the ".X" (if any) to the same ticker you already used.

But bear in mind, if you have been using one ticker, say DJI (for the Dow Jones Index) on v5, that will not automatically map to $INDU on v6. So any lines that you've placed on your DJI chart will be lost in the transition to v6, even though they represent the same Index. That same principle holds true for any ticker that you have on v5 - if the corresponding ticker on v6 isn't just a format change - it won't map.

Most of the time that will work. But some indexes don't have the exact same ticker symbol, or Exchange.
The cash indexes tend to have "<space>A0" vs "Y"
Dollar Index                         CEC:DX A0    (CEC:DXY in 5.1)
S&P GSTI Semiconductor   SPC:GI8 A0   (INDEX:GI8Y in 5.1)

The Futures tickers:

(The Futures Page)
You use the same letters as before: H, M, U and Z - but the format is a little different. Note that there is a space just before the month character, in this example, the "H".

So it's <root symbol> space <month><year>

Like this:

The main S&P Futures   SP H8

The S&P Emini  ES H8

The main Nasdaq Futures   ND H8

The Emini Nasdaq   NQ H8

Charting Options
Previously, in v5.x, you would just put in the options ticker and you'd get all charts of an option. Even Intraday charts of the option itself. For example, you'd enter GOPOL for the March 460 PUT on Google.

In v6.1.x there have been some changes.

Intraday charts on options are not available right now (they are planning to add them to later releases), but the Daily and larger charts are. However, you need to adjust your symbol. Using the same ticker as above, now in v6.x we'd enter in GOP OL (note the space between the P and the 2nd O). Also, of course, you need to make sure your account is subscribed to the OPRA data feed to get the options data in the first place. You can check that in your account management page here: https://secure.esignal.com/Maintenance.aspx?bhcp=1

Breadthalizers

For QCharts v6.x, the symbols require a suffix.... -QC

For example:
ADVDEC-QC
TICK.NQ-QC

These are the same breadthlizers that have been calculated in 5.1. QCharts 6.1.x is maintaining several of the existing "continuum" servers just for this purpose. In fact, these servers have a full tick feed which will provide an even richer content than has been the case in 5.1. The continuum servers as the source for breadthalizer data will persist until the implementation of all the QCharts breadthalizers on the eSignal network servers is completed sometime in 2010.

FYI, the eSignal network feed has certain breadthalizers already, that have been there all along. Many are the same type as in the QCharts continuum feed. Click HERE for the list, including their update frequency, which may be less frequent than continuum.
